Arccos to Introduce Golf’s First Artificial Intelligence Platform, Arccos Caddie, Powered by Microsoft Azure via PR Newswire

Arccos Caddie harnesses advanced analytics to help golfers of all skill levels shoot lower scores by making smarter, data-driven decisions on the course.

The Arccos 360 system lists for around $250 right now. The Arccos Caddie service will then require an additional (price unreleased) subscription.

I get the concept. Educate the system with 5 rounds of golf, which is the minimum required to activate the service, so it knows your tendencies. Then run those stats through the database to get real-time suggestions for your next shot. It sounds good. Making a club suggestion is a step forward over the other competing smartphone apps that just give you a distance.

My gut tells me including weather conditions will be hard to pull off. If the app is suggesting a club expecting a 10 mph wind, and it’s inaccurate, there will be issues. Only time will tell.

Do you think this type of system would prove useful for the price? Would it help your game significantly over typical GPS, rangefinders, or old school sprinkler heads? I’m not sure my game is consistent enough to justify the investment.
