PGA TOUR statement on Mark Hensby | via pgatour.com
The PGA TOUR announced today that Mark Hensby has violated the PGA TOUR Anti-Doping Policy for failing to provide a drug testing sample after notification and has been suspended for a period of one year. He will be eligible to return on October 26, 2018.
Back in June, the PGA Tour announced a much more intense anti-doping policy that went into effect with the beginning of the 2017-2018 season. Essentially, the new policy was brought up to date to meet the World Anti-Doping Agency standard. Welcome back to the Olympics professional golf.
In accordance with the terms of the policy, the Tour indicated it will not comment further on the violation. I’m not really sure what further comment would be needed. Hensby failed to provide a sample in the time allowed. Seems fairly straightforward to me.
Hopefully, this sort of thing will prove to be a limited issue for the PGA Tour going forward.
